I Wish I Was A Punk Band is the solo expression of multi-instrumentalist Phil Hamilton. Utilizing drum machines, swirling guitars, and stark vocal effects, IWIWAPB crafts intricate soundscapes under vague melodic threads to create dreamy indie / bedroom pop.
The upcoming single, Threadcount, was recorded with TRG Music, mixed at Bear Creek, and mastered by Rachel Fields at Resonant Mastering. The single is a love song to the existential dread that prevents you from leaving your bed. It is the first single off an upcoming EP titled Same As Yesterday.
The latest release, The World In Which We Already Live, was recorded with TRG Music and mastered by Rachel Fields at Resonant Mastering. The EP touches on the anxiety of climate catastrophe and the mental exhaustion it provokes.
Hamilton’s first album, Takeda Bleach, was released on Feb 18th, 2020, with Mathieu Riede Studios. The album pulls on wisps of nostalgia as it explores the memory distortions and biases of one’s youth.
